I thought the intitial early release was on a horrid night for a premiere.  One would wish they'd have more faith in O.C.C. Pulling it off.

Even with Senior with being secure  at least having a series beyond A/C, how well will be the chance a PJD show will make it out of concept. worry.gif

Saturday night? wow, I thought sunday nite was a bad spot, unless they are airing it in the morning with a gearhead block of programming like Speed used to have.

Not thrilled about the day of the week, but I am hoping that it will be on Comcast's ON DEMAND menu in my area.

It sorta looks like they brought this guy Evan in to take the heat off of Poole, what do you guy's think? Why was this new guy building the tank in the first place? It's true he should have been making sure the build was on target but why did Sr let him keep building the tank? It looked like Rick was only doing grunt work; that's a misuse of his skills! There is something off on this show. I liked the bike building and having fun in the shop. However, even the blowing up of stuff wasn't funny like it used to be. I don't expect these "reality shows" to be real anymore but I do like a good story that at least looks real... It shows the skill of the script writer if he can make the show look real or do as Duck Dynasty does; don't even try to make it look real. Come up with a script with a situation and have at it.

I checked thru the schedule, it was on again at midnite saturday, then 5pm sunday, dont know how many more replays it will get. Saturday is not the night to make this series work.

I always thought of why is Wrestling still popular. Everyone knows its fake, has made up story lines, but Monday has always been Boomtown Rats, and the no doubt worst day of most everyones week you get to go home and watch people get beat up just gets you in a better mood. They take this to a weeknight and it will do well.

This Evan is a terrible choice. I seriously do not know what to think. He is a ****y prick like paulie. I still dont know if this is a shot against paulie or not. If you want to make an aquarium gas tank, save it for the aquarium guys build. The pranks, like I said, I tune away. You are building a bike for goodys popcorn and decide to blow up all the samples they gave you instead of eating them or giving them away. Bowling and buttered popcorn? Really??

Anyway, the tank was cool, but not for this bike. It was too long and stretched and those too low handlebars were a bad choice. There are some extremely talented people there and none of their skills were really shown.

It does seems to be trying to compete for the viewers of a Duck Dynasty program about a yuk it up good natured family... Question is WHERE is the FAMILY in the show.  That is what is missing to get the show back to Kicking the doors down of a Duck Dynasty or a Pawn Stars, or many of the other family based Reality-Docu-tainment programs.

I do also believe that they must have felt they needed to bring in a whipping "newbie" to play the character that Paulie represented as the bane of Senior's wrath, since attacking Poole or Rick or any of the toher crew on designs would've drawn wrath from the viewers...  Well.. Some in the case of Jason. But aside from that would've been the perfect attention in the show in my dreams.

another shame is that Senior is now so hands off on the show.  He railed for years against his son not getting his hands dirty.  Now he is the one that comes in does the handlebars an he's fabbed a bike.... Not cool.. Senior... Karma is going to be a ....

Mope I agree with you in most of what you say. I know that (perhaps because of the script) Sr and Jr could not collaborate with each other on anything. However, no matter how ****y Evan got or how he "in your face" disobeyed orders Sr gave him, Sr never was so easy on Vinnie as he was with Evan... Sr just complained about Jr and then made someone else (Vinnie) fix it. It's like some slave taking the whippings instead of the son when the son of the king was naughty. It's also a little hard to understand why a land-line phone was in the shop if employees were not allowed to talk to customers. What was the purpose of it being in the shop. I believe that other stories of OCC had employees talking on their cell phones which was against the rules per Jr. I guess what needs to be done is to forget we have knowledge of past events.

I just feel a little disappointed in the avenue they are taking the show.  The "Real" shame is they are making the gAssMG look like rockstars when it come to fabrication.

wow, before people were pisses that sr didnt let the fabricators do the work and just got in their way, now he is not getting involved enough?

I didnt see if they showed Evan calling the customer, imitating Rick or whatever stupid **** he was doing, but it was a key plot of the story line. At least Evan seems like enough of an ass that nobody is gonna take his side when he gets fired.

Sherry, you gotta believe that Sr learned some lessons of how to treat people with everything that went down with his sons, so he is not immediately jumping on Evan, but I think the same time he is being easy on evan he is losing respect with the builders. Making parts over and over, wheels being remade and repainted. Just about every important part of that bike was lost because of the tank that Rick would have made leak free in a couple hours. I guess its like anyone walking onto that set and thinking they need to be a court jester and ham it up for the cameras.

Just for the record "****y" in my world means "arrogant, conceited, overconfident, etc."  The brain of Google thinks he can make computers figure out what you want to ask before you ask it.  I think it will take awhile for that happen.  When it comes to humans one size does not fit all.

another, I hope Sr did learn some things about how to deal with people.  I hope he carries it over to his sons in "real life."   Some people think they have to bring down the strongest (or most popular) person in the company, shop, etc. to make his subordinates respect him.  In my opinion that is not the best way to do things.  That person could be an asset in terms of providing info that could take years to learn!  Rick used to share knowledge with both Mike A. and what's his name that used to work for Milwaukee Iron?  And it shows in that Evan manufactured a faulty tank that leaked.  It says that he owns his own shop and is working for OCC.  One wonders if he is so sloppy with the builds in his shop.

Senior plainly railed against Paulie doing to much or to little or any position that seemed to go against what mood Senior was in to try to act in a leadership role at the shop, an honestly I don't think the current Senior is the real Senior.  I'm sure in the lost editing of footage that he still bemoans Paulie for walking out the door, an why his sons still don't talk to him.

I was getting tired last evening when I wrote that piece Mope.  I knew his name but for the life of me I couldn't think of it!  About 2 1/2 weeks ago my husband had a mild stroke; and prior to that he has suffered from lung and heart problems; serious problems.  The doctor at the hospital (apparently your doctor don't take care of you when you are in the hospital; at least out here) wanted to put him in a nursing facility.  I told her that unless his health would deteriorate under my care I wanted to take care of him.  It has been very tiring but I know he is getting the care he needs and not being neglected; and I have two daughters who are RN's so I have added help.  When the nurse came to the house last week and discharged him she was amazed how well he looked!  I am tired but I'm thankful I could do this for him.

All Senior wanted Paulie to do was express his ideers in a way the fabricators can follow without it being a vision in jr's head. They get a drawing from jason. That was the whole deal, sit with jason, tell him the ideas on the screen until its right, build it and be done with it. But Paulie could not accept that it was not Jasons work and instead of sitting and designing he chose to not show up til noon until they were gone.

It's called passive aggressive and since Sr had control over his kids from birth he had plenty of time to initiate it into the kids that they couldn't make it without him. Now I admit I'm conflicted over this. It could have been part of the script but were too many comments from family members and others that confirmed Sr fought with his sons; and especially Jr because he would fight back.

I also have trouble believing that Jr had bad work habits because he worked hard when he had to. The problem with Sr is Jr ew how to work smart also which didn't sync with Sr's blue collar world. But Jr was motivated to get the product done in a manner that it was the best he believed it could be. Nobody had a problem with Sr not working like a member on the assembly line. And why should he, he paid employees to do that job. And I believe that Jr really wasn't expected to work like a hourly wage employee either. It's hard to separate the show from the actual business they ran. Although at one time we had some really good people who could research situations and we pretty much knew what was going to happen before it aired. Those were fun days....

Eventually you want your son to take over, delegate responsibilities and explain things in a way that the talent you are paying to fabricate can understand.

Rick and Mike had problems with Jasons drawings at the beginning, you can draw it, but you need to know you can build it. Thats what Paulie had but refused to share with Jason.

Jason is a tool, but that is all Sr hired him for, to be jr's tool. I think we watched PJD pay Brendan to fly in to make tanks and three or four were put to the side because jr changed his mind. You let rick build all day and he should have made you 1000.00. Changes and redos cost a business that money. Jr will find this on his own, eventually, even the dog park, he ended up needing someone to draw it on paper. Eventually Jr will see this.

You are so very right Anotheridiot. You know I have trouble with this name as you aren't an idiot. I may not agree with you in some things but I don't think idiot fits!!!

Actually Jr is a late bloomer in the world of running a business of his own. I joined the OCC forum way back in 2005 I believe; perhaps 2004. It's too bad they lost their data when people joined the group. It doesn't matter really until I am trying to figure out the time line on something. The group during that period of time were a really fun group; there was a lot of good natured fooling around among those in the group. At any rate, there was a discussion whether Jr could go out on his own. We watched the build offs between father and son and the son always came out on top. The viewers or those attending the bike reveals used to vote whose bike was best and Sr never won. Jr was more concerned with the quality of the bike as well. Sr was more interested in getting the bike done regardless whether it was safe or how it looked. I'm sure you watched the Billy Joel bike build. The red paint didn't match!!!

Anyway the majority of the group believed Jr could make it on his own IF he had a business manager who knew what they were doing. And running the office can be learned where being artistic can't. You either are, or you aren't. The thing I liked about Jr's shop is that he was not opposed to learn something new from his crew; probably because he respected their talent. Now if Jr believed his idea was better, he went with his idea. The boss should make final decisions because they are the ones taking the risk!!! I just liked to watch the guys standing around throwing ideas around...

And as I said it was a bad idea to allow Evan to work "out of class" so to speak because he was to ensure the build was progressing as it should and the budget was being maintained. I didn't even think about the loss of time and material when the tank failed. If it had been Jr, Sr would have hit the stratosphere!!! And frankly if that kid ran his own shop he should have known that!!!

That's some of the reason I haven't been posting much.  I had a medical issue come up that between hospital an rehab for loss of movement in a leg, for close to a month I've been that I been trying to recover...

So I might be taking time to recover back to my old self...
