I kinda answered this question in another thread, but I'll be more committed here.

1st Jr. I just like his finished product better.

2nd JJ Mainly because I don't care for the Ninja style.

3rd OCC I think they should have done the front end better. It looks industrial/military esk to me. But leaps and bounds better then last year.

4th Gas Monkey. I think that is what it deserves as it was truly a minimum effort. On any Saturday or Sunday in the greater Houston area, in front of bars, restaurants and ice houses, you can find several bikes at least as good as "Fred". You would get a friendly reaction but nobody would leave the building to get a closer look.

From the pics I've seen I agree.

1st: Jr. The bike has some really nice features. I don't particularly care for that stretched out look, but it is the most striking of the bikes, and when you add in the Jr factor he will win easily.

2nd: OCC. Nice looking bike. If they had made a decent front end (instead of that blocky thing) it would have been better though.

3rd: Jessie. He will suffer for being late, twice. The bike has a ladybug look. Not sure if I like it or not. It might help to see him actually on it.

4th: Gas Monkey. And they should immediately send their fourth place trophy to Harley, since they actually designed the bike.

The truth (for me anyway) is that if any one of them built a bike that I liked better than Jr's (within the rules), then I would vote for them no matter how much I dislike them as individuls. If JJ had finished his bike on time, and I liked the bike better than the others. he'd have my vote. But he didn't do either of those things.

That's the problem with judging art. Everyone has their own differing opinion on what looks good.

There are even people that like the scribblings that Mikey displays in his "art" studio.

Jr's bike looks good enough to win the contest, but It's way too gaudy for my taste. On the show last night, Cody said it best.... "It's tough to build a car themed bike without making it look "cheezy".

Here's my breakdown :

1) Juniors bike is the one I would vote for. I like the lines and the overall look of the bike. I'd get rid of the hood ornament on the front fender and make the "steering wheel" more subtle. Too bad he used a laser cut repro of the grill, and not an original. It reminds me of Arlen Ness's bikes, without being a direct copy.

2) Gas Monkey's is the one I'd like to have in my garage. I like the pre-AMF harley XL's, but shorter handlebars. It's a fairly common looking bike, but it was nicely done, and was the only bike finished on time. (the original deadline) The pink color doesn't really bother me, it was done well.

3) I don't care for Sport bikes, but OCC's bike was interesting, until I looked at that ugly front end. They should have done more anodizing to add color when they were given more time. The bike is too plain and unfinished looking.

4) (as repeated in other threads) JJ should be disqualified, not for missing the deadline, but because he was given plenty of leeway by the producers and he intentionally ignored them while trashing the event that he agreed to participate in. He signed a contract to perform, and failed, despite declaring how much greater he was than the others. Like a PUNK, he set up his excuses in advance and refuses to take responsibility for his own faults. No matter how well crafted his bikes are, he is no longer relevant, and can't seem to realize it.

So jr will win just because he is junior, jesse will be penalized for being late and a douche, so gas monkey will end up splitting the vote with jesse and sr so junior wins by default, even though people dont really like what they built.
He could have shown up with a scooter and won.

Maybe because none of them hit it out of the park and all the bikes have some good and bad points. But the best of the bunch is PJD.

all I am saying if sr or jesse did hit it out of the park, it still would not matter. maybe it will be in better light on the stage tonight, but jr's bike has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

And all I'm saying is that if any of them made a killer bike I and many others here would say so. Otherwise we would be saying the PJD bike is great and so on.

OCC's bike from the back shot looks good and I was really liking it, then I seen the pic of the front end and was disapointed that they did that to the bike. Now I'm not a huge fan of PJD's bike but unlike the OCC bike it flows nicely, something that Jason has no clue of.

JJ's bike reminds me of the minibike I had when I was a teenager. I do not like it at all.

Now after watching the episode I can say more. Jr's bike was the best designed bike by far and that Cody comment was taken out of context.

That is only an opinon of course because we'll never get to read a judge's scoring sheet.

And of course Cody wasn't speaking about his own shop's design because he would never criticize the person who saved his TV career.... at least not as long as he continues to receive what is owed to him. ;)

Damn!... what's up with the continual edit notices below my posts? I never manage to create a "perfect" post on the first try. It always takes me at least 3 or 4 attempts. :p

Um yes he was at the time, it was before the grill turned up but once the grill showed up and Jr showed them and explained his vision Cody quickly changed his mind. Don't start pulling a El on us and quote stuff out of context and then when busted change your story. Bad Izzy.

I never quoted anything out of context. I agreed with Cody's opinion. I didn't say he was calling his own work cheezy. But I do think that bike was a bit too cheezy to ride in public.. unless you're in a parade maybe.

He was saying it was going to be cheezy but after he realized the vision of what Jr wanted he loved it. Your quote from him made it sound like he was talking about the PJD bike once it was finished but he was talking about it before anything was done on the bike.

PJD 58%

GM 20%

JJ 13%

OCC 9%

Yeah.. unfortunately opinions win a lot of elections too. Do you think the "best" person always wins those?

Well if it was just a popularity contest then why did Sr and JJ get so few votes and GM get so many? So GM is more popular then Sr and JJ?
