OCC's offering was at best - a demonstration of their ability to design and carry out work done on a CNC machine. The only piece on the bike which showed any amount of human talent was the gas tank. The balance of the bike is composed of 1's and 0's, mostly zero's....
Now let's give OCC a little credit, but they keep taking on side to far an some not enough. They took if too far in doing it all with like PAMD said one's an Zero's. Zero of course is Jason Pohl an Quinn. They took it not enough to were they could've went with it. The big chunk of aluminum the flowjetted and Cnc'ed out. More interesting would've been the wood form in a way wood've been interesting, or made out of a carbon fibre sandwich flow jetted or cnc'ed out to the shape(Much lighter)
Colors : Jason should've taken his little manual to heart. Copper, gold, nickel, chome finishes, an annodized coatings get some color in there, or what about the film finishes that the dipping process could do?? Rivets, you can never go wrong with rivets...<j/k>.
what paycheck? he didnt ask if he was getting paid, he asked if there was money involved this time. they get to keep the bikes. he took his time building what he wanted to build for a decade, are they supposed to take that away from him?
In the phone call to see if JJ would participate in another build, JJ asked if there would be money, Christo responded that JJ would get paid.

I do anodizing and with 24 hour turnaround, you can just guarantee clear. There was no room for error and wrong means stripping and redoing, which means stripping and repolishing the tank halves. The red would have looked nice on the tanks, but reds have the worst lightfastness (fade) than any other color. I think it was a comprimise to half the crew that that natural was better. If they left it natural you would have to polish it constantly.

thats all he said was money, which is money he probably all used on parts. I am not disagreeing with you that he was paid to build a bike, just the term paycheck is not the same meaning.

The money was also for appearing on the show, in that sense, it is payment for services. A paycheck. Which is why I used the term. In any event, the semantics aren't important. Jesse signed a contract with specific terms, when he couldn't fulfill those terms, they gave him more time. He still couldn't meet his obligation.
I might be more forgiving if he hadn't been trashing the event the whole time. It's one thing to trash talk about your competitors, but why talk bad about the event you agreed to participate in ? If the whole thing is meaningless, then why participate ? Why set up your excuses in advance ? Again.
He's placing blame elsewhere, in advance, and not taking responsibility for his own faults. In short, he's a punk a$$ b!tch, who doesn't deserve to be on TV. Let him do his thing if he wants to, but don't stroke his ego by rewarding him with another chance to whine and pout his way to "stardom" again. Let him fade into the obscurity he deserves. There are plenty of other builders out there that could easily replace him, and be just as entertaining.
PAMD wrote:...Jesse James ... "bad boy - bitchy" attitude served well in siphoning even more votes from his ultimate goal. He is a jackass, and a scumbag in my book.
What? Doesn't he get any points for giving an STD to the chick from "Speed?" Or for claiming to be a descendant of the outlaw Jesse James, but he's not ("they switched my DNA at birth!")

He was not blaming anybody. He again did what no other team could do by hand. It takes alot of steam out of his bike when OCC basically did the same bike just used CNC to do the machining as jesse was making a chrome moly cage. Just to be clear I got one vote and did not vote for jesse. I wish he would have built a chopper, I just think he has the right to think he is all that because he really is that good and instead of badmouthing him I think he deserves a little more respect. He was on every cover of every magazine when OCC took off. I am just surprised he and sr did not communicate at all with them basically building the same bike.
He is again out of this world on design and making it work. Did anyone else think about Jesse's bent tranny shaft when he told the guy he was gonna plug a vent hole and mount it upside down lol.

As I've said before, I don't care for sport bikes. However, as someone who has dabbled in a variety of handcrafts (including blacksmithing) I can still appreciate the workmanship that both JJ and OCC put into their bikes. Each, in different ways, created interesting bikes using differing approaches. (I'm leaving PJD & GMG out of this conversation, as only OCC & JJ made sport bikes)
My objection to JJ has nothing to do with craftsmanship. It has everything to do with him being a Tool. Even that wouldn't be enough to disqualify him. It's how he acted towards the build-off, and intentionally failed to manage the time that he signed a contract for, that should give him the boot.
The producers didn't give him more time because he is such a stellar fabricator (in his own mind), they gave him the extra time because they knew that the 'drama' that JJ creates would generate interest in the show. Interest = Ratings.
Jesse is an innovator that many have copied. He went out of his comfort zone to build this sport bike. I also do not like sport bikes. Craftsmanship again goes to Jesse. OCC went a little out of their custom zone, but since they just completely built that little sport bike from scratch, it wasnt as far a stretch to them. Bottom line, the innovation was on OCC's bike hogging it out of aluminum. The front end, well, its aluminum and it needed to be beefy. Gas monkeys did what they do, take an old something and flip it for money. I wish he would have gone more chopper with that harley, but that would have meant geometry at the trees not just extending a couple tubes, it was just an ok bike with old lady bicycle handlebars. PJD did what they do, build a theme bike, not a chopper again and I probably hate that tall front tire more than sport bikes. Everything jr commented on his bike was directed against comments made against him. Did he build what he wanted to build, or did he build a car the competition wanted him to build. If it was directed against jesse, jesse does not build rat rods, he builds era correct cars with era correct paint. He already copied a cadillac and copied a 57 chevy tail for the mikey bike. Maybe the bar was set too high, but PJD could have done much more than cover a frame and tire with sheet metal.

OK, so JJ + Sport Bike = Innovation
OCC + Sport Bike = a little out of their custom zone?
