Hey, no-one said that network executive were bright. Otherwise, I'd be watching new episodes of Firefly instead of soap-ona-rope operas.

I think people are getting tired of Discovery's drama formula on every show. Why does the talent never shine in shows anymore?

Apparently they think that success will not make for good television. That's why we have three shows about guys digging holes in the ground, and not finding gold.

I think that there is a fourth one starting up with a group going to South America to dig the holes that Todd Hoffman refused.

Give it a year or two. When Junior settles down and have a kid and Senior comes over for bbqs. Then the show will be back for a last curtain call.

Piligian kicked Jr off the "set"?

Interesting word choice in that article. Which "set" would that be? PJD? or OCC?

Whatever was going on behind the scenes, it sounds like it would've made a better reality show than AC.

Junior must be walking around in his house trying to think of an excuse why he made the show get cancelled. Looks like Senior was right all along guys. We only know what they show us on T.V. What happens (off camaera) is reality.

 How was it Jr's fault?

Maybe that is why PJD only has temporary banners on that building.  Its actually a discovery set. Maybe paulie will need to go back to the OCC building, so he has a place to work.

I still say, Jr has not built a bike in his shop for three weeks. His direction is put his logo on whatever possible, the show is supposed to be about building bikes.

And OCC has spent most of this season building bikes for themselves. The OCC Cafe bike, Sr's bike and the Super bike. Maybe Jr should start building a bike for PJD Studios.

I will miss AC, but for me it has only been half a show for years. But half a show was better than no show. Thanks to the fast forward DVR button I could effortlessly skip over the Senior segments that I no longer was able to stomach. Always found it interesting to see what Jr. could come up with to somehow represent a customers product or theme. Doesn't matter which side of the fence you fall on now I guess. For all the Jr. killed it and Senior killed it conspiracy nuts TV is a simple matter - falling ratings = declining revenue = show cancelled.

The ratings aren't that bad. Certainly not bad enough to warrant a mid-season cancellation.

The last 2 episodes got an 0.7 share of adults 18-49, during MNF. They beat Outlaw garage both nights (albeit a better time slot).

Nov 13

Nov 20

There's gotta be a lot more going on behind the scenes.

Why would jr build a bike for the studios? he wants away from motorcycles and if he did he would have to pay for it.

Every couple days Richard Rollins gets all excited that another marathon of fast n loud is on. The newer shows are going right down the food chain where people are happy to be on tv and not worried about being paid for them airing the shows.

Sometimes Junior gets frustrated and caught up with multi-tasking multiples ventures and don't think what he's doing. If you seen last episode at the end he finally gets it. He needs to think how his actions effect his employees. So he's human and will make mistakes.

In the long run, it doesn't matter who's fault it was. Even JJ managed to coax DC into a couple of new shows after he burned the "Monster Garage" bridge.

Yep fully agree. That was my point to El, it doesn't matter how much of a pain in the butt you are to the producers if you rate and bring in money they would use anyone.

Looks like discovery is not done giving great shows the hatchet...just announced Dirtiest Jobs cancelled. One of my all time favorites, although how many interesting dirty jobs can you profile before the well runs dry. Hope they find a new platform to showcase Mike Rowe and his wonderful hosting skills.

Sad day.

The hundreds who gathered on Wednesday pushed against each other to witness the show's final days. They recorded with cameras, cell phones and even iPads as Senior rolled past on one last made-for-TV motorcycle, closing the narrow path behind him until he disappeared into the crowd, leaving the smell of exhaust fumes behind him.

Hmmm....That looks like a Jr bike.

I think probably it was not so much a ratings decline for AC as it was a problem finding customers to build bikes for. Even PJD hasn't built a bike for anyone for the last 3 episodes or so. He did t-shirts, bicycles, and worked on the 9/11 bike. No new bikes.

Come on...you know Jr. would have a chrome hammer or ladder rung or shingle textured seat on that baby...lol. Nothing about it says theme bike.yawn.gif Might as well of ordered a OCC softail, swap in a springer front and paint it orange.Don't get me wrong I'm sure it's a nice custom but compared to a Wow Factor theme bike it comes up short in my book. hmm.gif

I'll wait until I see it on the show, all I can tell from the photo is that the person taking the pic doesn't know how to take a flattering photograph.

I didn't mean Jr bike: doodads all over it. I meant the style, even down to the big front tire and humpy tank. Glue/rivet a few trinkets on it and it would be a Jr bike.

But that is a great leap in logic, that has no corresponding facts to support it. You could just as well say that Jason's immature behavior caused the show to be cancelled. Or that Paul Ryan's hair caused Romney to loose the Presidential race, thus causing the network to purge it's longest running shows.

All three of those statements are ridiculous, and can't be taken seriously without some background actions that link them directly to the cancellation.
