This series about motorcycle restoration was filmed in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, historically, one of the poorer areas of the city. For once, Discovery chose to deal with real people, maybe someone up there (at Discovery) is listening!
I just caught the second run at midnight. The usual "we don't sell we go under" hook, but based I what I saw, I will definitely watch another episode. They seem to really love the bikes they are restoring and the craft. I will keep my fingers cautiously crossed, because watching guys from Philly is almost like cheering for the home team. Sometimes a girl from Jersey has to cross state lines. ;)
I gave up on Gas Monkey. Those guys don't even respect the cars. The only time I will watch another episode is during a run of insomnia.
The show wasn't too bad. I just wish that they had shown more of the actual work on the bikes, instead of the talking about it. The restoration of the Matchless model X looked great, and would have made a great episode all on it's own, but we never really saw how it was done. Just before and after shots of the stages in-between antics.
Lead character sounds like an looks like a 50-ish woman with a two-pack a day Pall Mall Menthol habit. But I enjoy any show that shows better quality builds thaan the Hacks from GMG,
I just wish that someone at Discovery would "read and heed" the above commentary. But they won't, and will continue in their attempts to immerse us in blatantly staged drama.
