Customer:"I want you to install an LCD Display" instead of restoring the set (they often sell in the $2K range restored).  What a butcher shop..... Rick's estimate was $2,500.00, by the way.... we'll see....

An overview of the Philco Predicta, by a real restoration expert, Chicago's Bob Andersen:

Predictas are known to be a pain to keep in working order, let alone restore one to factory original condition.  http://www.predicta.com/ , the Telstar Television company site dedicated to the manufacture of licensed re-creations of the many Predicta models, manufactured to late 1990's standards (actual CRT sets, which are digitally capable).

I wouldn't have winced as hard had Rick done a little research, and incorporated the "innards" from one of the Telstar re-creations, but that hack job that he did by using a bezeled Visio-branded LCD TV, and what was probably a Wal*Mart special DVD player shoe-horned into the base of the cabinet.

One good thing, they at least used Mohawk Lacquers and Toners to finish the cabinet....

A Telstar "Danish Modern" Predicta re-creation, similar to the model "restored by Rick":

Thanks to the early warning, I skipped this episode :) One of the Telstar reproductions is on ebay right now: www.ebay.com/itm/Predicta-Danish-Modern-TV-/130927258054

A little more that Rick's estimate. but it has a proper 4:3 aspect ratio 24" color CRT in it and not a hacked LCD.
