Honey Boo Boo's "Uncle Poodle" admits to being HIV positive, I wonder how tactfully the show's producers will deal with the situation? Hopefully, some of the revenues from the show will help provide him with Stribild, instead of being spent at that convenience store which they frequent.

South Park, while somewhat irreverent, has often, in my opinion, hit the nail squarely on the head with regards to their analysis of current events and our social situation.  Last October, they presented an episode entitled "Raising the Bar",  which addressed "Honey", and our thirst for shows like hers.

Here is a link to the full episode: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s16e09-raising-the-bar

After posting, I noticed this news story on one of the Philly TV stations: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?id=8950192&section=news%2Flocal

(a woman, and her boyfriend, were arrested for "performing" *** on/with a dog)

My issue is questioning whaat has happened to this "mighty" network of instructive an informational programming.  Ten years ago  it was at the top of it's game, but now... WOW!! What has happened....  just keep stepping in it.

Is there some specific reason why these people are on TV at all? I just don't get it.

Lowest common denominator, toots.

From the first Neanderthal who threw rocks at his neighbor to flipping on the bewb-tube to see fat troglodytes who talk like they've got a mouthful of gravel pose and pout as they parade their beastly offspring before the cameras, some people are have so little self-esteem they can only feel vaguely human by laughing at people who are supposedly "beneath" them.

[insert rant about how watching these living hairballs makes one actually inferior to them, etc.]

I've never watched a single second of the show, nor will I.

Maybe it was an honest mistake, after her boyfriend said he wanted to get pictures of her doing it "doggy-style."

"Sit, Boo Boo, sit!" (I don't know where I heard that, but given this thread's title, it seemed appropriate.)

IMO it sounds like we have some good people on this forum! I don't understand this kind of humor and I don't want to understand it. But think about it Honey Boo Boo has already been exploited by her family. I can't stand watching these kids on the beauty contest shows, and cheer leading competition shows either. Mothers who should know better live out their fantasy through their children in one of the most dog-eat-dog industries. It is bad enough that adults get involved in this industry much less babies!

And I do know a little of what I speak. One of my granddaughters grew up being trained for competition dancing. I hated the situation my daughter and her daughte found themselves. And my daughter didn't even like it. But she thought if her daughter's time was taken up dancing she wouldn't be getting into other types of trouble so the journey began when my granddaughter was 6 years old. For about 3 years I worked here in the desert, stayed with this daughter 4 days a week and went home for a 3 day weekend. I can't tell you the number of talks I had with my granddaughter; and my daughter for that matter, regarding the atmosphere of this "community."

The situation seems to keep repeating itself; a dancer who doesn't make it starts teaching dancing. She becomes a "big frog in a small pond" and keeps her position by giving favors to some and neglecting the rest. Nevermind the fact that all these people are paying her money for some type of result; mostly that their kids can dance. As a child of 8 years who stumbled over my feet my Mom entered me into dancing which did correct my problem and gave me a love for dancing. However, when my Mom saw that this was an unhealthy atmosphere she got me out of there. My daughter was convinced that my granddaughter would benefit from the experience. Growing up in this environment made my granddaughter hard, but she has overcome

There is going to come a time where people will be able to buy the programming they want; I believe Dish has an ability to buy programing a la carte. Rocu and other equipment gives you the ability to stream programming to your television. If this idea is allowed to continue, regular television will no longer be able to hold their customers captive. Discovery and others like them will find that bundling no longer gives them the luxury of just sliding. It's a shame that people pay for a more choice in entertainment only to turn the TV on and find nothing fit to watch. By the way the Robertson's who have that duck show? I've watched them a few times when I felt like watching TV but found nothing on fit to watch. I laughed when I didn't even expect to. They use a little of the same as they do on Boo Boo but it is more situational. As I said, I didn't expect to laugh but I find clean situational humor funny. And making fun of people is not so in your face.

I fear that child will meet a fate much worse than Anna Nicole Smith, and at a much earlier age.  That money had best be set aside in trust, as it will be needed for therapy to allow her to cope with her childhood. I blame the producers, TLC, and her parents with equal burden. Those professional beauty pageants for children scare the hell out of me - and always have.

Have they determined the degree of damage that removal of her niece's extra digit will create??

As for the "sketti and butter"..........

Ha ha, yeah that's it: "Ubu." For some reason (I'm blaming my current bout of Strep throat), my damaged brane remembered that as "Boo Boo." Seemed to work, what the hey.

I dare not comment on the parallel(s) between "sit, Ubu, sit", and "sit, Boo-Boo, sit", it is too sad...
