No. The people in charge of the contest allowed him more time, so he got more time (extended to other builders too). Gas Monkey finished on time because they just refurbed someone elses bike rather than designing their own.
I'm not going to defend DUI. Only an idiot would try (and fail).
But, Billy Lane realized that he killed someone, and took responsibility for it. He pleaded guilty, and didn't appeal the sentence. Once in prison, he started a program to teach other prisoners how to work with metal, so that when they got out, they would have employable skills and could find work. He isn't just doing his time. He's making an effort to contribute positively to society.
I used to think of him in the same way I think about Jesse James. A tool with skills. I am gaining more respect for Billy Lane now, than I would have thought before. Nothing can bring back the dead, and nothing can make the family whole again. But, at least when Billy gets out, the state of Florida won't be releasing another criminal into society. It will be gaining a productive individual. I would like to see Jesse James make the same progress, without making the same mistake.

And did OCC or PJD use the extended time or were the bikes already finished?
I say yes, only because what's the point of having rules if people break them and it's not fair to the teams who stayed on time.

they said it right in the show when they were talking to gas monkey guys, jesse wasnt finished, jr was not finished either. OCC took the extra time to anodize their bike instead of putting it together unfinished.
I dont know why everyone wants jesse disqualified. dont you all want to see the disgusted look on his face when he loses again?

I haven't seen the episode yet that's why I asked.

Yeah OCC was going to leave their bike raw metal, but the extra time allowed them to anodize it like originally planned.
Jr wasn't done but was close to done. I'm not sure they actually used the extra time for anything. Jr did say that he did NOT want JJ disqualified though because he wanted the four way builf-off that he signed on for. He didn't seem upset at all. Vinnie blew a gasket though.

At the point that the call was made to extend the deadline, the time to finish hadn't expired yet. So, none of them were in default.
It was JJ that stated that he wasn't going to make it, and asked for 2 more weeks. We may never know if OCC or PJD would have missed the original deadline because it was extended before the clock stopped.
OCC was creating 'Plan B's" to try to be done on time, and PJD was pushing to complete. Both still had a chance to make the original deadline, but were never consulted about how they felt about an extension (unlike Biker Build-Off, where Hugh King left the choice to the other builder). That decision was made by the producers without their knowledge.
Sure I'd like to see Jesse's face when he looses. But how often can you watch a grown man-child pout and whine ?
If I were Jesse, when the winner is announced (PJD of course) I would walk over to congratulate him and then hand him a big fat check for the Komen Foundation. That would shock Jr and piss off the PJD nation so much. It would be awesome.

A lot of the build offs had problems at the end and the other builder always opted for the competition. The difference with this is the other builders respected the competition, where respect is foreign to JJ.

And Billy Lane is a drunken murderer.
Correction, he wasn't convicted of murder. It was vehicular homicide........ and he is currently paying for his mistakes.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the Producers wussing out on a decision. They were the ones who extended the deadline, without consulting the other builders, so they had the responsibility to make the call in the end.
However, I do think it was the right thing to do to leave it up to the other competitors, and not the audience, to make the decision.
In the end, I'm ok with how it went down. ANNNNNDDDD, Jesse lost again.
GMG took 2nd place, the best thing about it is that Jesse lost to a PINK bike that looks like something Jesse built in his mother's garage all those years ago.
I would like to know who placed 3rd and 4th. They didn't announce them. I guess they didn't want to humiliate Sr. or Jesse any further.

He was drunk and made the decision to drive and due to his bad decision a man is dead. They can call it pin the tail on the donkey, a person is dead because he murdered him.
Because he is serving time does that void the action? I'm sure the dead man fells better about that.

Yes, and all the people UNINTENTIONALLY killed in every traffic accident in history were "murdered" too........ Satisfied?
I hope you're not a lawyer.

And that is where we disagree. You call it unintentional, I call it premeditated. I don't need you to agree with me or put it in other words or terms to be satisfied. It is my opinion and does not require validation by others. Does that satisfied you?
And to your great relief I am not a lawyer. I am simply a cog in the wheel. No need to fear me nor my words.
I really think that Jesse was technically disqualified. The decision should have been made before voting started, not an hour into the show. I bet alot of people considered him disqualified as well as a loser.

I didn't know any of that. Thanks for the info. I'll give him credit for making a bad situation into something worthwhile (in comparison to ex-first lady Laura Bush, who got off scott-free for killing a guy while driving drunk).
None of them lost really they all built what they thought would be the best bike to win, an yes it's basically a popularity contest, it is also pretty much a sham, in that Junior did build visually the best bike, Jessie built the BEST fabricated bike, Senior built the best bike with technology with as PAMD put it(alot of ones an Zeros... Zeros being Jason Pohl an the Occ minions)GMG they built the most purist bike(for a bike that looked like it rolled out from the period 1970's)
The real loss is us discovery viewers in order that we are most likely going to be forced into watching GMG instead of choppers or going to have to suffer with the egotistical Jessie James. Because Choppers does not fit the image that Discovery is going with their programming.
What does being Republican have to do with the matter at hand? Are you saying the Kennedys are Republican? I suppose the had to let her walk since they set the precedence with Teddy.
