Paul Junior twitted a pic(boy is that a play on words for Junior haters) of his inspiration for the build-off bike.  IMHO it looks like a mid 30'sto 40's cadilliac leading lady of the car...

Yes, I saw the tweet. Couldn't figure out what part of the bike that was.

I googled "classic hood ornament" and found this........ It's from a 40's era Chevy.

If that's really what Jr put on his bike, then he's lost some "innovation" and "iconic" skills.

It's already been done before. Billy Lane often displayed classic auto hood ornaments on his "biker build-off" winning choppers and Jesse James even had a hood ornament on last year's build-off entry.

This is one of the later of the Instagram picts, is that a four-port intake??  (I only see two cylinders, so I doubt it is an exhaust)

More sneek peek pics are leaking out at: http://www.designbyjoyce.com/pauljr/buildoff2.html - definitely looks like a 40's chevrolet master deluxe theme - classic chrome grille integrated into matte black signature Brandon tank, bet that kick ass motor looks killer under it - tan diamond pattern leather seat with matching wrapped classic street rod billet steering wheel bars - luscious matte black rear fender hugging a wide whitewall wrapped around a red rim (spoke maybe?) - brand me a PJD fanatic if you must but nobody can take a theme - Cadillac, Martin the Geico Gecko, P-51 Mustang, etc., etc. and turn it into rolling art like the team at PJD.

Rumor has it Ass Monkeys F.R.E.D. bike looks so sub standard for build off quality people are starting to think its a decoy bike...if it is what they are really bringing to the ring count them out.

So it's quite possible that PJD took cues from what Gass monkey an the other Austin misfit, an made a style-wise tribute to a ratrod, with the flowing nature of his art deco rolling motorcycle sculputes.   I love how the facia of the grill flows with the tank.   I hope Jesse's brought his A game..

I honestly think that is what they best can do...  It's to them basic simplicity, they think the more purist that a bike is to what the concept of a chopper-bobber of the era, it's a true or pure bike.   They get offended when someone thinks outside the box....  Somewhat how I feel when a rare classic car is foosified, or turned into some kind of street machine, or when the Pro stock movement was big in the late 80's or like now, it's rat rodding.  Make'm black low an sinister.

What little I've seen of "Fred", it seems like a nice bike. Is it Build-Off quality ? Who knows, it depends on what the others bring to the table.

Fred might hold it's own in a contest with some of Senior's old school efforts but looks looks way to plain for a Vegas Build Off kind of competition. My opinion of course. Something has to really pop and speak to you on that big of a stage. Bringing a knife to gunfight comes to mind.
