Ok, I guess I'll be the first to throw out a topic about this show.
I like the show. It sort of fills the void left from the loss of American Hot Rod a few years ago. But it appears that DC is trying to fill it with drama by having Jesse berate an employee because he dared to voice his concerns over the project deadline. Kind of reminds me of Dwayne, the manager at Boyd's. Imagine, the king of opinionated loudmouths can't tolerate others with opinions. How is he going to fire his business partner Bob Merkt (the founder of Austin Speed Shop) also half owner? He'd have to buy him out before he could get rid of him.

It was a nice car, but the chrome on white thing just wasn't working for me. The white hides the chrome, and the chrome takes away from the white. They should have used brass plating so that they could play off one another. As it is, it all blurs into one great big blob.
Sr insisted on an automatic trans, can't he drive a stick ?
I wasn't crazy about the bucket seats. Without a bench, how is Beth supposed to snuggle up under Sr's arm while they cruise ?

The car that the Austin Speed Shop made for Senior was cool. I really like the white colour. Seems to have plenty of power also as it had a hemi. Nice clean inside. Just a cool car.

Senior did not specify anything. He did not even expect a first year hemi. Jesse was the one that specified everything, from color to engine and trans. The style of the car dictated auto trans. If it was a high boy with big fat tires on the back then manual would be the way to go, but it was built as a sunday cruiser not a saturday night mischief maker. He should have left the rims black and chromed the hubcaps. You might have noticed, you cannot chrome a rim and a cap because the chrome will not allow the cap to bite. He will need some kind of mechanical fastener to keep those caps on.
I bet the next time we might see that car it could have a different paint job. Sure hope Jesse flies some painter down there and sets up some shop space for him to work at, you cant build classic cars by getting them painted at a collision shop.

That would be counterproductive. Sr's shop would still have to strip and sand the gloss and top coats in order to repaint the car with a quality paint job. Not to mention re-priming it for the new top coat. You know how much Sr hates to waste time and money on repetitive work.

I agree. If he continues to go outside the shop for paint, he's going to continue to have scheduling problems with the tight deadlines he keeps.
Maybe he had Jesse paint it whie so that he can have his shop put the real paintjob on it... Maybe Senior didn't trust Jesse could give Senior the quality of vehicle he wanted.

not really. any bright metalflake or candy paint job starts with a white basecoat. scuff it, intercoat clear it and start with the candy. It was all the mud they put in the rocker area that the doors would not fit on top of that you would be stripping.
